Introduction: Joyce Cho

joyce, korean-american, twenty-four, blessed and happy.

Welcome to my blog: People of Cooking. Before today, I hadn’t used this phrase ever, but now it seems like it’s the only thing on my mind. People of Cooking, said vocally in a Southern accent, is best.

What is People of Cooking? I’m sure everyone on social media has heard of Humans of New York, one of my inspirations to start this blog and profile. Humans of New York highlights the vast range of people in New York and shares a small snippet of their story—showcasing the beauty, weirdness, and wonderfulness that is humanity. As I was pondering my passions, enjoyments, and curiosities, I came upon three things.

  1. I love real conversations with people: Tell me what inspires you, tell me how your childhood was, tell me something real.
  2. I love food: Food is joy, but above that, cooking is love. Receiving, giving, and sharing food not only fills our stomachs but warms the soul in a unique way.
  3. I love writing: I’m not an expert writer in any sense, but there is something so beautiful about writing. It’s personal, edited or raw, can create new worlds, and can touch and reach depths unseen.

Inspired to combine these three aspects, my blog that will contain deep-dive interviews with chefs, home cooks and foodies. I plan on showcasing the wonderful food, experiences, restaurants and places to showcase the beauty of something that unites us all — we all have to eat.

Welcome to People of Cooking. Thanks for being here.
